A team that has worked together for a long time, on matters that rarely go without saying.

Our clients are companies and their directors, shareholders, buyers and investors, as well as insureds and insurers under directors’ and officers’ policies. We also act for individuals where they are called to account for decisions they have taken.

We work on a continuing basis with court-appointed administrators and liquidators, investment banks, turnaround funds and financial experts who know how we operate and with whom trust has been built matter after matter.

We plead for claimants and defendants alike, before the civil and commercial courts. Across the table we most often find financial institutions, industrial groups, contracting parties or fellow shareholders turned adversaries.

The balance of power is rarely even, and that is precisely what governs the way we work. Preparation must be complete before the hearing, the exhibits in order, and the position settled rather than sought in the course of proceedings.

Taking, or taking back, control. The phrase is an old one in the firm and it says well enough what we are after, which is to move our client out of the waiting position the adversary would like to keep him in, and to restore the balance of power before it sets.

That calls for careful preparatory work, a complete examination of the exhibits and the identification, from the outset, of the few points on which the matter will turn. Everything else follows from that.

Our matters are always connected to French and European Union law but have no geographical limit, though they are most often concentrated on the European continent and, for the most part, in metropolitan France.

Our team joined the English firm DWF in 2022 before recovering its full independence in 2024 under the name Cahn Wilson, with the same core team. The experience confirmed us in the sense of that independence while strengthening the capacity and the resources we bring to bear for our clients.

Our field is business law, in its civil, commercial, criminal and tax aspects. We do not go beyond it, and we prefer to say so rather than to accept a matter we would handle less well than the lawyer whose field it is.

We do not practise family law, employment law taken on its own, criminal law outside business matters, nor administrative law. Where a matter calls for one of those fields we refer it to a colleague and, where useful, we remain alongside on the business-law aspects.
